Why Mindset Matters

Hello! My name is Meg, and I am a Fitness Trainer and a Life Coach. You might ask, “What kind of combination is that?” Well, let me tell you about my journey.

I first started teaching aerobics in college. Think back to the days of high-intensity classes where we wore sports bras and thong coverings over our spandex. Picture it… scrunchy socks and big hair styled high with AquaNet. Yep, that was me! Teaching classes was the best. I loved the endorphins of high-intensity training and how they help me control my body and mind.

Fast forward a few years, I continued teaching classes and added Personal Trainer to my list of credentials. There is great reward in helping people get healthier, stronger, and more confident in a one-on-one setting. However, there is something I had to learn along the way. I had some clients who didn’t seem to care about reaching their goals as much as I did. It took me a while to wrap my head around this, and I decided to give it my all without caring more than they did.

I have had clients over the years who work hard and surpass their goals. I have had people drop out after ten sessions. And I have had long-term clients who train with me while making very little progress or even sliding backward. What differentiates these people, you may ask?

As I have trained people over the years, it has become apparent. It is not that some people care more than others. When someone hires a Personal Trainer, they obviously care; otherwise, they would not make the investment. It’s not that they don’t have goals. The problem is that the way they think becomes a roadblock. It is all about MINDSET.

Think about it this way:

Suppose I had two clients, Susan and Jennifer. They both weigh the same and have similar workout regimens. But, they get completely different results. WHY?

Susan starts from a place of self-love, preps food and sticks to her meal plan, drinks water, moves more, and has a solid morning routine. She is INTENTIONAL.

Jennifer is not confident in her own skin, hasn’t planned her week ahead of time, snacks on whatever she can grab, and sits for most of the day. She lives life on the fly and neglects self-care.

These two clients illustrate why MINDSET MATTERS. When we put ourselves first and are intentional about nearly every choice, it becomes easier to reach the goals we have set.

Not everyone knows how to do that on their own. Insert Life Coaching.

Life Coaches take people who have a good life and help them make it great. Life Coaches help people work on their mindset to accomplish anything they want. Generally, someone such as Jennifer has some belief holding them back from what it is they want to do. As a Life Coach, I help dig into what that might be. Sometimes it takes a while, and we must do a lot of digging. But whatever it is that is holding them back eventually comes out. Once we recognize what this is, we can work to change it.

It all starts in the brain. It is our thinking. The gym is not always the best place to start for many people. You could spend an hour in the gym daily with me, but if you are not doing all of the other things in your life that you need to do to reach your goal, you will not be successful.

I have been involved in a program called Self Coaching Scholars since 2019, which has changed my life. I officially became certified as a life coach through the Life Coach School this past spring. My business has expanded outside the gym. I help women who are stuck in the cycle of yo-yo dieting take back control and live a healthy lifestyle operating from a positive mindset.

I would love to work with you if you are ready to take your life to the next level! Contact me today to learn more.
